Introduction
Elastic, a global technology company known for its enterprise search and data visualisation tools, sought to reposition its Amsterdam office as a hybrid-ready collaboration hub. With much of the workforce operating remotely, the space needed to go beyond traditional desk layouts - it had to support client-facing meetings, all-hands sessions, and seamless hybrid collaboration.
The Amsterdam site was selected as a model for future office rollouts. As such, system consistency, quality, and user experience were placed at the centre of the design brief.
Problem
The office required a mix of large and medium-sized meeting spaces, each capable of supporting high-quality video and audio, as well as intuitive, platform-native conferencing tools.
Challenges included:
-
Supporting hybrid and in-person collaboration across varied room types
-
Creating a consistent user experience to promote system adoption and reduce support burden
Managing delivery and installation within a city-centre environment, where narrow streets and restricted access complicated logistics -
Providing scalable solutions that could inform global standardisation across Elastic’s wider real estate portfolio
Solution
The large meeting room was equipped with a system designed for flexibility, clarity, and full-room coverage:
-
Zoom conferencing was handled via a Mac Mini, paired with Crestron control and Lightware HDMI signal extenders for clean signal management
-
Shure ceiling microphones and Sennheiser handhelds provided both fixed and roaming voice input
-
Audac audio hardware supported clear, balanced sound across the space
-
A Netgear switch was used to manage AV-over-IP traffic and ensure reliable communication between devices
-
Dual 98” Sharp/NEC displays were wall-mounted to support presentation and video conferencing needs
In the medium-sized rooms:
-
Logitech Rally Bars were installed as all-in-one conferencing solutions, with Tap controllers for in-room operation and Tap Schedulers at the entrance to manage bookings
-
Sharp/NEC touchscreens provided an interactive display surface and contributed to a unified visual identity across rooms
Training was delivered to Elastic’s IT and facilities teams, equipping them to manage the systems day-to-day and produce internal support materials. A focus was placed on workflow alignment, so users could transition between rooms without relearning interfaces or setup sequences.
Results
Elastic’s Amsterdam office now operates as a showcase location for its hybrid workplace strategy. The combination of consistent room logic, reliable AV performance, and thoughtful control design has led to strong user adoption and minimal support overhead.
The space is now used for:
-
Client meetings and demos
-
Cross-regional collaboration sessions
-
Town halls and internal briefings
-
Informal catchups and smaller working groups
The successful delivery of this project has positioned the Amsterdam site as the template for Elastic’s global office standard, with the AV design forming part of the wider blueprint for rollout across future sites.
