The Turtle AV Darwin 4K TX is an H.265/H.264 AV over IP encoder that takes an HDMI 1.4 source — up to 4K at 30Hz — and distributes it as a network stream across a standard 1G LAN to any Darwin 4K RX receiver in the system. H.265 compression enables efficient bandwidth use while maintaining HDCP 1.4 compliance, and analogue audio in and out via 3.5mm phoenix connectors complement the digital HDMI signal. PoE on the LAN port eliminates local power supplies at encoder positions, and RS-232 integrates with AV control systems for matrix switching and source selection commands. With 100m reach over standard CAT cable, the Darwin 4K TX is the scalable, infrastructure-friendly encoder for multi-room and enterprise AV over IP.
Key Features
- H.265/H.264 Encoding: Encodes HDMI video up to 4K30 using H.265 or H.264 for efficient 1G network distribution
- HDMI 1.4 Input, HDCP 1.4: HDMI 1.4 source connection with HDCP 1.4 content protection compliance
- Up to 4K30 Input Resolution: Input resolutions from 480p to 3840×2160@30Hz — full HD and 4K sources supported
- 1G Network Distribution, 100m CAT: Transmits over CAT5e/6/6a/7 up to 100m on a standard 1G network
- Text Mode: 1–2 Frames Latency: Near-real-time latency in text mode for KVM and IT content distribution
- PoE LAN — No Local Power Required: PoE on the RJ45 port powers the encoder from the network switch without a local power supply
- Analogue Audio I/O: 3.5mm phoenix audio in and out for analogue audio integration alongside HDMI
- RS-232 Control: Serial port for AV control system commands and matrix integration
- Compact 95 × 120 × 21.5mm, 305g: Ultra-slim low-profile form factor for discreet mounting behind displays or in cable channels
- H.265 Bandwidth Efficiency: H.265 compression delivers 4K video at lower network bandwidth than MJPEG-based AV over IP alternatives

Application Examples
| Matrix AV over IP System | Deploy multiple Darwin 4K TX encoders across a building — any source to any display over the existing network, managed by the Darwin 4K Control box |
| Multi-Room Video Distribution | Distribute a 4K source — PC, media player, or satellite receiver — to displays in multiple rooms simultaneously over the building LAN |
| Digital Signage Networks | Encode content sources for distribution to Darwin 4K RX displays across a digital signage network — scalable from a handful of screens to hundreds |
| Education Campus AV | Distribute lecture content from campus sources to classroom displays across the institution's existing 1G LAN without dedicated AV cabling |
